Design/Build of Springdale Reservoir

Butier Engineering, Inc. provided construction management and inspection services for the design/build of the Springdale Reservoir. The project consists of a 9-million gallon cast-in-place reinforced concrete reservoir and related improvements necessary to increase the potable water storage for the City of Huntington Beach.

Completed in 2003, the reservoir now provides compatible and flexible operations with the existing Peck Reservoir, Peck Booster Pumping Station, and other existing facilities. The project involved major earthwork activities, new piping connections, modifications to the existing booster pumping station, and installation of new isolation valves.

Additional project components included site drainage, paving, landscaping, fencing, lighting improvements, and all necessary offsite work to join or accommodate existing facilities. Unique to this project is the architectural design. The reservoir complements architecture of the surrounding research-and-development and high-tech buildings.
