Ocean Blvd. Peninsula Gravity Sewer Main Replacement Improvement Project

The EARTH TECH/Butier Engineering, Inc. team provided construction management and inspection services for microtunneling directional drilling and open trench construction along Ocean Boulevard.

The project consisted of the construction of a new sewer force main, gravity sewer mains in 22 alleys, and additional new gravity mains. These improvements replaced aging and damaged sewer mains to reduce maintenance on the facilities. The Long Beach Department of Public Works scheduled a major Ocean Boulevard Street Improvements project to follow these sewer improvements.

Construction was tightly coordinated to minimize disruption to the public and tourist-dependent businesses. Additionally, to ease public concerns during lateral construction, several city agencies coordinated to allow displaced residents along Ocean Boulevard to park along the median during construction.
