Armstrong Trunk Sewer

Butier Engineering, Inc. provided inspection services during microtunneling operations for installation of approximately 4,000 feet of 27-inch pipe located some 25 feet belowground, and microtunneling of an additional 4,000 feet of 42-inch pipe. The project increased the capacity, which was insufficient for existing businesses and anticipated future growth in and around the Irvine Business Complex (IBC).

Project elements included:

• Construction of microtunneling jacking and receiving pits
• Construction of manhole bases
• Backfill and compaction of all pits
• Abandonment of a sewer lift station at McGaw
• Monitoring of groundwater pumping volumes
• Monitoring of microtunneling operations
