Pipelines

Butier Engineering, Inc. has managed numerous major pipeline projects throughout Southern California totaling over $400 million in construction costs. These projects represent over 45 miles of water and reclaimed water transmission pipeline, trunk sewer, and interceptor sewer line through a variety of environments, including sparsely populated and high agricultural regions of San Diego County; populated beach communities in Orange County and Long Beach; developing communities in the Inland Empire; unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County; and biologically sensitive terrain in San Juan Capistrano.

Our experience includes large- and small-diameter Cement Mortar Lined and Coated (CML&C) pipe, ductile iron, PVC, and steel pipe, as well as RCP vinyl-lined interceptor sewer lines. Projects have ranged from $2 million to $80 million in construction value, and have lasted anywhere from several months to several years in duration.

Project technical and other challenges have included "drill and blast" tunnel construction under a major interstate; microtunneling through high-tourist, downtown beachfront areas; deep shoring systems; boring and jacking operations; multiple agency and permit coordination; traffic control; and extremely tight project schedules.
