Reconstruct Landing Surfaces of Runway 1L-19R John Wayne Airport

The Reconstruct Landing Surfaces of Runway 1L-19R project involved milling out approximately 3.5 inches of existing Asphalt Concrete surface layer within the runway center "keel" section area (center 54 feet) and other high traffic areas of the runway and overlay with new high durability polymer-modified asphalt concrete. The wearing course surface was grooved and pavement markings applied subsequently. The project required compliance with FAA Advisory Circular AC 150/5370-2E.

In order to maintain the operation and safety of the airport, all construction operations conducted within the areas of runways, taxiways, and aprons had to be performed during 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. At the end of each nighttime shift, the work area had to be free of conditions that could be hazardous to aircraft operation the following day.

Butier's responsibilities included document control, review of construction documents, construction QA/QC, site conditions and progress visual documentation, conducting project meetings, reviewing submittals and RFIs, implementing a change order control system, monitoring as-built drawings, managing Contractor claims, preparing monthly project status reports, CPM schedule monitoring, coordinating Q/A inspection services, compiling O&M Manuals, and Close-Out and Acceptance services.
